In Little Elms our days are diverse but typically start with free play both indoors and outdoors as the school day begins. Each child has a dedicated tray for their coat and bag and a key part of their routine is independently putting their belongings away upon arrival. This emphasis on fostering independence from the very start contributes significantly to our programme’s success in easing the transition to formal schooling.
Children are always encouraged to develop their phonics, writing and speaking skills, with each child’s progress tailored to their individual needs. When appropriate, some learners may even join formal school phonics sessions, which serves as excellent preparation for the next stage of their education. Throughout the week, specialist teachers conduct lessons, giving the children the opportunity to engage with different instructors and build confidence in participating and collaborating with others.
Parents are regularly invited to workshops throughout the year to learn how best to support their little learners and staff provide daily feedback on each child’s progress. This collaborative approach ensures that families are involved in their child’s education journey, creating a supportive network that enhances the overall learning experience at Little Elms.
