“Music brings such joy”- Mark Mallory, Bellevue CEO
The shared experience of gathering in the school hall to appreciate music performed by our talented young artists always sparks joy. This feeling is amplified when Bellevue schools gather each year for the Bellevue Southern Music Festival. This year, in Reading University’s Great Hall, was no exception. From Oratory’s polished choristers to Farlington’s uplifting string ensemble and, of course, Elmhurst’s highly accomplished piano solo from Sam, the evening’s talent really did suit the venue’s grandeur.
That said, for me and for many others in the audience, the joy of the evening was encapsulated in seeing the first of many Elmhurst Voices performances: a choir of 6-9 year olds whose energy and talent rightfully received the loudest applause of the evening. A parent from Gateway school felt compelled to approach the youngest members of the choir at the end to add her personal congratulations- I think everyone in the audience left excited to see where the Elmhurst Voices journey takes us next.
A huge thank you has to go to Ms Rochester for not only working tirelessly with Elmhurst Voices to develop their set but also expertly accompanying many of the other choirs throughout the evening. Thanks also to Ms Prior for her support and positive energy throughout the evening and the long drive. Mr Brook
