National Poetry Day Guinness World Record Attempt

Posted: 7th October 2024

Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 took part in a Guinness World Record attempt!

To celebrate National Poetry Day on Thursday 3rd October, we had the unique opportunity to join published poet Laura Mucha, along with thousands of students nationwide, in an attempt to break the record for the ‘Largest Poetry Lesson taught simultaneously across multiple venues’.

At 10am, we connected to a live video stream where, through interactive online voting, we worked together to create a collaborative poem based on this year’s theme, ‘counting.’

It was an exhilarating experience! We were especially proud of the children’s enthusiasm and their creative contributions to the poem.

To meet the stringent requirements of the Guinness World Records, Mr. Brook was tasked with counting the children as they entered the school hall. He also captured both the photographic and video evidence needed for verification.
